Job Description:
Summary
The Iowa State University Seed Laboratory is hiring for a Customer Relations Coordinator II. Our lab has a history of excellence in seed testing, training, and customer service dating back more than 100 years. We offer cutting-edge seed analysis technologies and services for both Seed Quality and Seed Health testing. Our broad range of testing options, high throughput of samples, accurate results, and unmatched customer service—combined with years of experience and expert staff—make us a leader in the seed testing industry.
This position will be the primary contact for our Seed Lab Health and Quality testing customers. The focus will be on intake and unboxing of samples, sample data entry, answering email and phone inquiries, reviewing, and dispersing test results efficiently. This position is fast paced and requires attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once.
Example of Duties
· Manage seed sample intake and documentation, including receiving and reviewing shipments, verifying sample integrity, maintaining digital records, and entering accurate Quality and Health data in the laboratory information system.
· Coordinate sample workflow and communication, monitoring sample status and proactively following up with customers and internal lab staff to resolve missing information and ensure timely processing.
· Serve as the primary customer contact, handling phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries; providing guidance on submission requirements, testing services, timelines, and routing requests as needed.
· Manage customer accounts and records, including account setup, data maintenance, and assessing service charges for add-on requests such as special processing, additional testing, and report copies.
· Serve as the front-office point of contact, welcoming visitors, assisting with questions, coordinating tours, managing parking passes, and maintaining a clean, professional reception area.
· Support center operations and outreach efforts, including preparing outgoing shipments and assisting with marketing activities such as trade show preparation, materials shipping, and event support (travel as needed).
· May assist with other projects as requested.
