AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State University Seed Science Center (SSC) is now accepting applications for the 2025 David Lambert “Hunger Fighter” Scholarship. This $1,000 award will be presented to one outstanding sophomore or junior who demonstrates a passion for seed science, global food security, and childhood nutrition.
The scholarship honors the legacy of David Lambert, a Distinguished Fellow at the SSC and an internationally recognized advocate for child nutrition, food safety, biotechnology, and global food security. Lambert was deeply committed to engaging youth in the fight against world hunger and promoting the mission of the World Food Prize. His family and friends established this scholarship to continue his vision and to inspire students to take on leadership roles in solving critical challenges in agriculture and nutrition.
Scholarship Details
- Eligibility: Sophomores or juniors with strong academic performance, leadership skills, and interpersonal abilities.

- Focus Areas: Seed science, global food security, and/or childhood nutrition.
- Award: $1,000 to support the recipient’s academic journey.
- Deadline: Friday, September 26, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
