Iowa State University Seed Science Center Launches “GermiNation” Podcast

New podcast explores the people, science, and stories behind the seeds that shape our world

Produced by the Seed Science Center, GermiNation aims to spotlight the people, research, and innovations that drive the global seed industry forward. From breakthroughs in seed technology to the voices of students shaping the future of agriculture, the podcast offers listeners an inside look at the science and stories behind one of the world’s most essential resources: seeds.

The premiere episode features Dr. Scott Heuchelin, the newly appointed Director of the Seed Science Center and professor in the Department of Plant Pathology, Entomology and Microbiology. Dr. Heuchelin brings over 20 years of experience in seed health, regulatory policy, and global phytosanitary standards. In the episode, he shares his vision for the Center, the importance of international collaboration, and what excites him most about returning to his alma mater.

GermiNation is currently available in audio format, with plans to expand to video in future episodes. Upcoming guests include prominent seed industry leaders, researchers, and students who are helping to shape the next generation of agricultural innovation.
