Project: Enabling Agricultural Innovation for Food Security and Trade: Capacity Building for Developing Seed Systems and Adopting Agricultural Biotechnology in Asia and Africa.
This two-year project involves the online and on-site training of executives and policymakers of national seed and biotech authorities, as well as technical officers, scientists, and researchers involved in biotechnology in Asia (the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam) and African Union countries. The objectives are to support the incorporation of biotech and innovative breeding techniques into seed sector improvement initiatives, to share ways in which biotech can advance food security and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change, to ensure the availability of high-quality seeds to small-scale producers, and to identify trade policies that ensure farmers’ access to the products of biotech innovations.
